Merry Christmas!

| | Comments (9)

Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family in the U.S. and around the world--in California, Michigan, Massachusetts, Maine, Florida, Colorado, D.C, New York, Austria, Australia, South Africa, France, Greece, U.K., Ghana, and Uganda!

We arrived safely in Nairobi last night. One could describe the 13 hour bus ride as 'bumpy', but that would be a major understatement--we were literally being thrown from our seats. Luckily the bus actually had seat belts. But other than the bumps, the ride was really interesting. We got to experience many major changes in the landscape, including a pine forest and the Great Rift Valley. We even got to see two herds of zebras, some warthogs, gazelles and a rainbow!
We met a really nice young woman on the bus who pointed things out to us and helped us tremendously once we arrived in Nairobi by helping us make a call to the hostel and negotiating a good price for us for the taxi. Thank you Christine!

Merry Christmas! It was wonderful to hear from you guys this morning -- a pleasant surprise since we were thinking you'd update once you got to South Africa!

I had some bonding time with my parents over your photos of Austria (particularly Hinterglemm and Innsbruck) last night; they thought the scenery (and the photos! and the photographers!) were magnificent.

Whenever I get a chance, I point people to your site and tell them about your amazing journey. I guess it's my way of staying connected to you guys. You are greatly missed!

Merry Christmas! You are, indeed, greatly missed, but it continues to sound like you're having a fabulous time. You write with such enthusiasm about your myriad adventures.

I continue to be amazed at how effortlessly you seem to effortlessly find and attract so many wonderful people along the way. Then again, maybe not -- you're so open and friendly, how could anyone not instantly like you?

Happy holidays, and best wishes on the next stage of your journey.

Merry Christmas guys!
I'm glad to hear that the two of you are having such a great time. I wish that I could talk to you on the phone one of these days but I keep missing you when you call. Keep safe and have fun. Love Dave

Dear Megan and Michael: It was great to hear from you on Christmas morning, the best possible present! Thank you, to you and to everyone along your journey who have been taking such good care of you. The "Father of the Bride" will always be grateful that former strangers, now forever friends, keep taking you under their wings to smooth out the "bumps in the road"(atleast the figurative bumps-not much they could do about the bumps on your bus ride!). Love, Papa.

Hi Megan and Michael,

Loved the pictures: plane tree, apple crates, pink roses, walking man! Incredible pictures!

I hope you are well in South Africa. So much bad news regarding the tsunamis in South Asia!

Love to you both in the new year. Love,
Aunt Louise
