Accra-ba-dabra

A very short update to let everyone know that we've arrived safely in Ghana. First impressions: it's hot! and it's humid! The rainy season's supposed to be over in September but, as we've been told, global warming is making it last longer this year.

It's really strange to be in a whole new culture after only three days in Cairo. We're both happy that we'll be in one country for the next month.

We meant to do a Cairo update this morning but we ran out of time (and we're both really tired tonight) so we'll write a new update and upload additional photos in the next few days.

I can't imagine why you are tired. The camel had to do the work in Egypt! On the other hand, from dry and sandy to tropical rainy season in only a few hours might cause the body to rebel just a little. Hang on to your emotions now. The highs and lows will probably be quite a rollercoaster. Love, Papa.

Hi Mike & Megan,

Stay safe out there!
The elections are coming up next week, so we're really slammed. I'll keep you two up to date on the news.

Everyone in D.C. says hi, we miss you two terribly! -Shawn

As they say in Ghana "Akwaabaa, translated: "You are welcome." Interesting translation and a curious introduction into how the English language has been made 'nativized" (that's a word I just created). I just hope you are used the art of bargaining. From here on you should drink lots of water. For you would need the energy to bargian your way through almost everything. The experience would drain you sometimes (with the humidity and everything) but you will be okay, I assure you. Also watch out for the open sewers. I just can't wait to hear about the 'wild' taxi rides and 'fufu' eating and stuff like that. Here are two websites I thought you might just find useful on Ghana.
