Big News (April Fools)
--- WARNING ----
The following entry is a joke and nothing but a joke. We apologize for any confusion this entry may have caused. -M&M
First off, we want to apologize for not updating our travelogue more often. We promised to write a lot during our time here but somehow the weeks have flown by. Hopefully today's update will make up for it.
As Megan said, we've been having a great time here at Jianwen University. We're teaching basic English skills to the students (who, thankfully, are quick learners). Click here to hear them in action. We're just glad that we've had the opportunity to give them a solid foundation from which to grow.
I've been taking "Tang Lang Quan" Kung Fu lessons from a highly skilled teacher at Yantai University. He told me last class that I'm a natural at Kung Fu and one of the best students he's ever had. He's invited me to go on a 3 week retreat with him into the nearby Shandong mountains where I will learn to focus my "Chi" and train for the national competitions that take place in the early Summer.
Which brings me to the next thing we wanted to mention - we've (again) decided to extend our stay in China. We're enjoying ourselves greatly and the university staff really appreciates our teaching so we're going to work here until the end of the school year. These changes to our plans will probably mean that we won't be back to the US until early 2006.
P.S. Megan went into the city with her students this past weekend and was convinced to try something new with her hair. What do you think of it?
That's all for us today. As they say in China, "Yu Ren Gie!" Or, as they say in America, "April Fools!"
Mike: I'm not sure about your kung fu skills, but your Photoshop skills seem to be progressing nicely! The ground shadow was a masterstroke. You still need to work on your game face, though -- one could quickly disarm you with Sarcastic Snake style.
Ist das alles ein Aprilscherz?????
Hmmm is Mike The One!?
Wow! I'm so glad you two love China so much! And I'm impressed by your quick study of Chinese ping yin!
Megan: Wowzers!
OK, Henni was right--April Fools! But we did expect a few more comments for all our efforts, especially for Michael's 'masterstrokes' in Photoshop as Rob pointed out. Was everyone fooled speechless, or what?
hahahahhaha...
Mushi - Mushi... (I think that is Hello, Hello in Chinese?) That's great. I was actually fooled at first, but then I saw that Mike was wearing slacks and had not broken a sweat - deffinitely believable though... nice job - hahaha
You should Dr. it up with a cool ninja suit and some syes... you guys look to be having the time of your lives. Keep on exploring - take care.
Hey Megan and Michael, I'm here with my mom (Aunt Louise) and Grandma....to tell you the truth...I was a bit speechless....didn't want to say something I might regret!? Grandma says she is speechless and does not like Megan with red hair...keep it the color it is!
Louise says, "There'a a kind of hush, all over the world tonight, all over the world...." in other words, they didn't know what to say! You've stunned us all!
Happy to hear it was April Fools!
Alexa showed us the "Big News"(a/k/a Big B.S.) posting Friday afternoon before we returned home on Saturday. Fortunately she looked at the pictures right away and figured it out. Otherwise, she probably would not have just been sad and shed a tear like at least one reader who shall remain anonymous did. She would have grabbed Hobbes(bigger, younger, stronger and meaner looking than Jesse), hopped on a plane and gone looking for Red Sonya(Sonia?) and Grasshopper(and I'm not referring to David Carridine). They would have been brought back, alive but maybe wishing they were dead! Love, Papa.
Wow, I'm sure the fine people of China are happy to have Megan teaching them to speak all screwed-up. They am angry, I are sad. Now it will only take them another 3,000 years to unlearn the "Red haired Devil's" evil ways.Good Job.
Just checked in on your wonderful world trip news . . . glad to read and see that you are both doing well! Happy New Year! Happy travels! I love your red hair - WOW! I am no longer at Webb and have yet to direct my energies elsewhere, but am a much happier person sans the insanity found under Dr. AJones' tryanny! Best wishes to you both! Cheers, health, and happy thoughts from us to you!

Hahaha, nice photochopping Mike :) The red hair on Megan looks cool! You will have to let us know how your retreat into the mountains goes.
The weather is finally starting to come around here in the chilly North East. Today was over 70!!
Well, enjoy yourselves out there, and I hope Megan's teaching was an April Fools joke too.
I are confused, are you really extending your stay or was everything in that post a joke??
