China: April 2005 Archives
--- WARNING ----
The following entry is a joke and nothing but a joke. We apologize for any confusion this entry may have caused. -M&M
First off, we want to apologize for not updating our travelogue more often. We promised to write a lot during our time here but somehow the weeks have flown by. Hopefully today's update will make up for it.
As Megan said, we've been having a great time here at Jianwen University. We're teaching basic English skills to the students (who, thankfully, are quick learners). Click here to hear them in action. We're just glad that we've had the opportunity to give them a solid foundation from which to grow.
I've been taking "Tang Lang Quan" Kung Fu lessons from a highly skilled teacher at Yantai University. He told me last class that I'm a natural at Kung Fu and one of the best students he's ever had. He's invited me to go on a 3 week retreat with him into the nearby Shandong mountains where I will learn to focus my "Chi" and train for the national competitions that take place in the early Summer.
Which brings me to the next thing we wanted to mention - we've (again) decided to extend our stay in China. We're enjoying ourselves greatly and the university staff really appreciates our teaching so we're going to work here until the end of the school year. These changes to our plans will probably mean that we won't be back to the US until early 2006.
P.S. Megan went into the city with her students this past weekend and was convinced to try something new with her hair. What do you think of it?
That's all for us today. As they say in China, "Yu Ren Gie!" Or, as they say in America, "April Fools!"
